Accessibility Statement
How we build this site so more people can use it, and a real way to reach us if something isn't working for you.
Our commitment
Rise Up For Autism is working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We treat accessibility as a requirement for every new page, not an afterthought, and we keep improving it as the site grows. This statement describes what has actually been built. It is not a certification and not a claim of full compliance.
What we've built
- Tap targets sized to at least 44 by 44 pixels throughout the site
- Visible focus states on every interactive element, so keyboard users can always see where they are
- A skip-navigation link at the top of every page
- Alt text on images in both English and Spanish, with decorative images marked so screen readers skip them
- Every social media link labeled individually, not grouped under one generic label
- Text and background color pairings that meet a contrast ratio of 4.5:1 or better
- No horizontal scrolling at any screen width, from phones to desktop monitors
- Forms with real labels tied to each field, not placeholder text standing in for a label
Known limitations
Some things are outside our direct control. A few scheduling and map tools on this site are provided by outside vendors, and we cannot guarantee their accessibility meets the same standard we hold ourselves to. Some documents linked from this site may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. We are working to close these gaps as we find them.
