Diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder in Children

We understand that an autism diagnosis can lead to complex feelings, questions, and a deep desire for the best future for your child. Autism cannot be detected through any medical tests, so psychologists and doctors will observe your child's behavior and their progress in reaching certain developmental milestones in order to determine a diagnosis. They will assess communication and social challenges and interview parents about restricted interests or maladaptive behaviors, among other diagnostic criteria. From there, your child will receive a diagnosis of ASD 1, 2, or 3, which indicate how much support they will need moving forward.

While we specialize in support services post-diagnosis through ABA therapy, we are also here to guide families in Illinois through the initial step of obtaining an accurate Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis. Our dedication to your child’s well-being extends beyond therapy; it begins the moment you start seeking answers.

About Us

Welcome to ABA Parent Training Services in Chicago, IL

At Rise Up For Autism, we are dedicated to both children in our ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) program and supporting families in our parent/caregiver training program. Our caregiver training programs in Chicago, Joliet, Aurora, and Tinley Park provide parents with the tools they need to strengthen their child’s learning and make headway at home, too. Our certified therapists use practical ABA strategies to teach parents how to manage behaviors, improve communication, and foster independence in their children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

What Is ABA Parent Training?

Parent and Caregiver training involves teaching parents the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to ensure that the progress made at the clinic generalizes into the home setting. Parents and caregivers will be taught how to manage challenging behavior, increase communication, promote positive social skills, and support their child's overall development. This training focuses on real-life applications, ensuring parents can use ABA strategies throughout their daily routines to create a consistent and supportive environment for their children.

Does ABA Parent Training Work?

Absolutely, Research has shown that ABA parent training has been effective in reducing parent stress, improving family interactions, and improving child treatment outcomes. At Rise Up, parent training is a requirement when enrolling your child given that it equips parents with the skills to:

  • Apply consistent strategies that bolster therapeutic goals.
  • Encourage positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Support their child’s communication and social interactions.

We want parents to be active participants in their child’s ABA therapy, leading to improved outcomes and stronger family dynamics.
